Ratna in Dance like a Man

All women are always meant to be suppress or they  are merely seems to be puppets for the decisions created by Androcentric society but their is unique in the characterisation of Mahesh Dattani in one of his plays Dance like a Man.

Ratna is one such peculiar character of Dattani becomes she seems to be villainous in the eyes of her husband because she is very much ambitious and selfish character in the world of patriarchal society set up. Her soul is only for Dance because of it she agrees the deal of her father in law and her only motive to get marry with Jairaj is to shine in the field of Dance. Because his passion is for only for  Dance  and he will allow her to Dance. Behind all her moves in the play , dance became the main factor. Her character not merely negative shade. She follows her heart overpowered by mind and tries to be famous using Dance as a medium.

Will u find this sort of character  before?  Yes I would really compare Ratna to Lady Macbeth because both the characters are ambitious and selfish, Lady Macbeth makes a plot to kill Duncan by tempting her husband the same way Ratna has plotted by herself and to make her husband like puppet in order to  shine herself in the field of Dance. she is equally as ambitious as Lady Macbeth. Her selfish inner desire is so powerful and cold -bloodledly play with the emotions of her husband Jairaj. She has single mindedly follows her heart over by mind and tries to be famous using Dance as a medium.

Ratna's character is fully unsympathetic and selfish. Her character do things for their bien purpose and may well be careless and callous about how others are affected by their choices. Audience bare shocked at selfishness that goes beyond socially accepted self interest and find glee in these people reaping the rewards of their lack of care of others.

Ratna's character is entirely different from that of others in Dattani 's characters . Dattani has more Heroines than Heroes like William Shakespearehttp://amdivswap.blogspot.com/.http://amdivswap.blogspot.com/
